Scene / Seen (Thirty One Days of Halloween) --- Orbs or Dots at the Morrin Jail

I know some people take photos of old places, looking for orbs.  I'm not one of them.  However, here's an odd anomaly from  a place in Quebec City that used to be the Morrin Jail.  We were waiting for a ghost tour to start and had been told to meet here.  On the tour we found out that there had once been public executions on this site.  I took a number of shots while waiting.  There's nothing here.  It wasn't raining and the lens was clean.
.
I shifted the camera down to another building and there are two dots visible.
.
Here is a crop of the same building.
.
I took more photos, and there is still nothing on the lens.
.
I went back to that building and there they are again---the two dots.

As Mentioned Below --- Niagara (Trailer)

.

There's a scene in this film where the dark haired, serious Polly is on a lounger.  Her husband appears and wants to take her photograph.  He asks for her to turn to the side so that he can capture her in "profile."  When he tells her to inhale, we know what he means.  Polly is in a bathing suit and he wants the classic cheesecake photo worthy of the gas station calendars of that era.   Polly shoots him a look, but complies.  The picture doesn't get taken, as a shadow falls over her.  Yes, it's Marilyn, who has stepped into the scene.   So much of this film is about those dual roles that women had to play at that time---they had to be the girl next door in order to get married.  This was at a time that women were marrying younger than ever and they were perceived as not having much worth otherwise.  Even bright women who went to Seven Sisters Universities and graduated with perfect grades got bottom rung jobs as secretaries.   After all, they were filler jobs, until they "got a man."  However, it was also an epoch when fashion increasingly dictated that they have very slim waists, huge breasts and that those assets be displayed in a sweater.
.
That scene spoke volumes about the times.    Betty was duking it out with Veronica.  Good girl Debbie Reynolds was about to have her marriage usurped by the vixen Liz Taylor.  A female was one or the other, but never both.
.
This movie has some superb camera work with interesting lighting and angles.  There's a scene where Joseph Cotton stalks Marilyn Monroe through a hydro-electric building that is very suspenseful.  The sharp shadows look like it was mastered by a photographer doing black and white stills for a fashion layout.
.
Niagara dealt with PTSD before the term existed.  Joseph Cotton is not a flat character, but somebody we actually can pity, despite doing bad things.
.
I'm a fan of film scores, and the jarring music suits the screen's images perfectly.   I'm not a person who bought into the cult of Marilyn,, but I like this film.

Scene / Seen (Thirty One Days of Halloween) - Knock on This Door

I knew I had seen this building before and sure enough, I rewatched the old film Niagara with Marilyn Monroe.  It's not quite film noir, but it's still good.  Yes..that's where it was.  I have this annoying OCD that I will remember that sort of stuff until the end of days, but I won't recall a person's name or dates.  I've got more shots of it, as I love old buildings.
.
I don't even want to think about what would happen if a person had vertigo on the day they went here.
.
This was a mining town and families used to live half way up the side of the mountain.
.
Here is another view of the Hedley Mine.  You can see the valley floor, way, way below.  It's a fascinating tour for geeks like myself.  On the drive up, the little bus goes around numerous switch backs and at times, you can see straight down.  I'll post more shots in the future, as it's a fascinating tour.  A word of warning---there are five hundred steps down to get to the buildings.   This means that there are five hundred steps back up.

Scene / Seen (Thirty One Days of Halloween) Haunted Garden

This is from last year in Quebec.   Each year, a display is set up around The Plains of Abraham at Halloween.  They are best seen at night, as they are lit up.  Amazingly, it seems that they are left alone and not vandalized.  I will post more pictures.  Each display actually has a story to go with it, based on a true story.  If you go on the ghost tour in Quebec or the after hours tour at the Citadel, you hear some great background information.  It's available in English or French.

Scene / Seen (Thirty One Days of Halloween)---The Beautiful and the Dead

While we may have selfies, the people of the past had death masks as a way to keep the dearly departed close to them.  Casts were made of the dead's face.  Centuries later, they look at us still.  I noticed that the one woman seemed to have a great sense of humour.  I bet she was a hoot in life.

Scene / Seen (Thirty One Days Of Halloween) ---Colour Under Clouds

These photos were taken exactly a year ago in Quebec.  I have an unending love of that place.
